The Clubhouse nestles in a pristine and unspoiled location inside the Bowentown Heads, opposite the north end of Matakana Island, Bay of Plenty New Zealand. Only 30 kilometres off shore is Mayor Island, famous for the migratory game fish which abound along the coast during the summer months.

The inner harbour provides some of the best fishing on the coast. A very short walk brings you to Waihi Beach, one of the finest surf beaches on the east coast of New Zealand. The Club was established in 1963 and now has more then 1000 members

St Paddy’s Day 2022

Best Dressed Couple sponsored by Sandra Hurley (The Professionals)

Many thanks to the locals that came up to the Bowentown Boat Club’s St Paddy’s Day celebrations.  Due to covid restrictions we kept it low key, but those that attended had fun, which is what St Paddy’s Day is all about. Well done Yve for winning the raffle for the night and to Christine for guessing the correct amount of edibles on the plate’s after sampling one of the lollies and then actually winning the prize, was actually priceless.  Thanks also to  Sandra Hurley (The Professionals) for donating the prize for best dressed male and female, the winners Heather and Dave looked fantastic.  Thanks to all that took time out to find something  green to wear, the barmaids looked great (as usual) and Carmen’s “Kiss me I’m Irish” hat caused some laughter amongst the members.  Mogan’s take on Irish Hotpot went down well and everyone said it was very tasty.

Thanks again for supporting us.   Chrissy and Ian

FISHING NEWS: Congratulations to Cole Craig on King Arca & Hamish Clayton on Milk-n-Honey for weighing a Striped Marlin each, definitely making use of the new gantry

The NZSFC Nationals have now come to an end, we had two teams entered from our club, “Primo” and “Milk-n-Honey” a solid effort by all anglers involved.

FRIDAY NIGHT RAFFLES: We will still be running the Friday night draw and raffles, however now that the jackpot is over $1000.00, we are going to have one draw only. If the jackpot is not hit on the first financial number drawn, it will jackpot to the following week and so on. The jackpot will continue to go up each week and when we are out of the “red” traffic light setting we will be able to  accommodate more members into the club to benefit from this draw.  When we return to “orange” the jackpot will go as per normal.

COMPETITIONS: Unfortunately due to the traffic light systems the government has In place due to COVID-19, its within our best interest to postpone the Porter Competition until further notice
